Hair loss in women Every good looking woman needs to have rich and healthy hair. It is therefore logical that women are more sensitive to hair loss than men. Besides, hair loss does not have a gender. It happens to women as often as it happens to the opposite sex. Usually, the dilution begins at the age of 30, it slowly evolves and reaches its peak at the age of 40. Hair dilution in women differs for baldness in men. Hair doesn’t fall symmetrically from the forehead and the temples but almost uniformly from various parts of the head.

Hormones, stress, diets

Hormones, stress, diets

Hormone problems are the most common causes for hair loss in women, whether these happen before a birth or after menopause.

Other causes are the hormone treatments, lack of iron or use of special medicines. A problematic thyroid, intense sentimental stress, traumatic shock can also cause hair loss suddenly without any warning symptoms.

Hereditary also plays an important part, even though we should not underestimate the “mechanical causes”, those we involuntarily provoke e.g tight hair bands, hard brushing, and hairdryer.

Female Hair Loss Types

Female Hair Loss Types

  • Androgenic alopecia is a common form of hair loss in women. It is usually hereditary. It appears before a woman turns 40 years old and it starts with an increased hair loss all over the head. In parallel a front line of hair growth is preserved.

  • Traction alopecia happens at women who use to hold their hair in tight hair bands. The root gradually dies down and eventually falls. In this case the hair doesn’t grow again.

  • Alopecia areata: The problem is noticed in specific scattered parts in the size of a coin.

  • Spread alopecia can be either acute or chronic. In acute alopecia, the hair suddenly disappears, without any warning and it is ascribed to psychological factors or to sentimental stress. In chronic alopecia hair loss can last for months or years.

  • Trichofytiasi: It is a form of mycosis which can be noticed on the head and can provoke small hearths of infection resulting in a gradual hair dilution.
